Daffodil Day on Friday August 26th,

is a time for the country to rally together in a day of hope for everyone with cancer.

-

Daffodil Day is the biggest day of the year on the Cancer Society calendar and it’s an occaision that’s not possible without the dedication and selflessness of a raft of volunteers.

The 2022 Daffodil Day street appeal will see a throng of Hawke’s Bay Cancer Society volunteers take to the streets with collection buckets, bunches of fresh bright daffodil blooms and a small selection of merchandise for sale. The Daffodil Day street appeal is crucial in funding the free services the Cancer Society offers including practical and emotional support from counselling to transport to cancer related medical appointments, advocacy and health promotion, therapeutic massage to the funding of research into the causes and treatment of cancers.

But none of these services can be provided without the generous help and support of the public. Every dollar given on Daffodil Day will go towards cancer care for patients and their whānau, so if you see our collectors on Friday, please give generously. Alternatively you can make a donation online by visiting https://daffodilday.org.nz/

If you or a loved one are on a journey with cancer, please call in and see us at our new premises at 801 Francis Hicks Avenue, Hastings, or give us a call on 06 876 7638. We’re here to help anyone with any cancer. The daffodil bloom is recognised around the world as a symbol of hope for people impacted by cancer. It is the first flower of spring, bringing light after long winter days and the hope of new beginnings and it has become a symbol for people experiencing the winter of a cancer diagnosis and treatment, finding hope of a new life ahead.
