TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES

Pursuant to the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, Section 342, notice is hereby given that Napier City Council will close the following roads for the following events:

NEW YEAR’S EVE 4.30pm 31 December 2023 - 1am 1 January 2024

Marine Parade from Browning Street to Vautier Street. Tennyson Street from Hastings Street to Marine Parade. Herschell Street and Emerson one way streets will be closed from Tennyson Street.

There will be a temporary detour in place on the Marine Parade Foreshore Reserve Pathway/Hawke’s Bay Trails from Sunday, 31 December 2023 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. between Browning Street and Tennyson Street. This will remain down on the beach level pathway and send cyclists/pedestrian­s onto the grass off the pathway.

After 3pm there will be a temporary detour in place on the Marine Parade Foreshore Reserve Pathway/Hawke’s Bay Trails from 42 Marine Parade (Ocean Spa) to just past the Soundshell. This will send cyclists/pedestrian­s on to the shoulder/parking lane from 42 Marine Parade to the Soundshell and direct cyclists/pedestrian­s back to the pathway behind the i-Site. The Marine Parade Foreshore Reserve Pathway/Hawke’s Bay. Trails will be fully open on Monday 1 January 2024 by 10am.

New Year’s Fireworks: 7pm: Event begins. 9.45pm: Family fireworks display Midnight: New Year fireworks display

A reminder to take precaution­s to ensure pets are inside and livestock are protected. This is a smoke and alcohol free event.

CHURCH ROAD DIRE STRAITS CONCERT 1pm - 11.30pm 29 December 2023

Church Road between Balmoral Street and Montpelier Drive. Pukerua Place and Tironui Drive (full length).

Please also note Halliwell’s Walkway from Church Road to Cumberland Rise will be fenced off by organisers. Local Detour in place Montpelier Drive, Kensington Drive, and Balmoral Street. Bypass detour to reduce congestion. Avenue Road, Avondale Road and Neeve Road. Vehicles parked on the road within the closed section may be towed at the owner’s risk and expense.
