A kitchen comedy

-

A comedy combining magic, mime, puppetry, slapstick humour, breakdancing and live music is coming to the Theatre Royal Nelson. The Magic Chicken stars Toot and Collins, who are two half-baked chefs running an old bistro into the ground. The show by Theatre Beating co-founders and actors Barnie Duncan and Trygve Wakenshaw is accompanied by live music and is said to combine ‘‘witty sophistication’’ for adults and ‘‘superb physical humour’’ for children. The two chefs spill food, fall over, hurt each other with various kitchen tools and run face first into pots and pans. Children have an opportunity to win tickets for their whole class for a matinee performance of the show through a school holiday sock puppet workshop. The Magic Chicken, Theatre Beating, Theatre Royal, 6pm July 29 and 6.30pm July 30. The free workshops are 10am until 12pm and 1pm until 3pm at Spotlight Nelson today and next Wednesday. No registration required, just turn up with a groovy sock to use.
