Annual winter show
Works by about 30 members of the Tasman Visual Arts Group will be on display at the Richmond Town Hall this weekend. The group’s second annual winter show would showcase about 150 works in a range of styles, said president Jean Wells. ‘‘It’s an exciting time for the members to get their work out there. We’re there to encourage them. Some of them are just starting out, but we have some excellent artists as well,’’ she said. ‘‘We had [an exhibition] in the hall last year and it was good. It’s a nice little place – warm and cosy.’’ The artworks on show will be for sale and entry is free, as well as refreshments like tea and coffee. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite painting, which will go towards deciding the winner of a people’s choice award. Tasman Visual Arts Group, Winter Exhibition, Richmond Town Hall, 10am to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday.
