Rugby reps default

South Canterbury have defaulted today’s scheduled representative rugby match against Marlborough at Manderville in North Canterbury. Injuries and unavailabilities were apparently the reasons for the unprecedented move and one which has not pleased the Marlborough Red Devils coaches Steve Crockett and his assistant Peter Jones who worked very hard to get a competitive Marlborough team on the park because of similar issues here. Last week, North Canterbury fronted with a team but only had a couple of reserves and were thrashed 53-0. Marlborough’s next match is scheduled for Lansdowne Park on August 4, a Seddon Shield defence against Buller.
