THE GOSS
Summer holidays in Nelson are all about sun, sand, swimming and occasionally a little stress. We asked people out and about in the central city yesterday what their most stressful holiday experience has been.
Brian Craig, Auckland: ‘‘We travel between four and six months of the year and while we don’t
normally have any problems, the times we’ve gone overseas
to watch the All Blacks play, and they have lost, then that’s
a stressful time.’’ Jill Craig, Auckland: ‘‘It’s all about making the most of what you
have. We just take it as it comes and if you’re organised then you don’t normally have any problems. I love your parking fees here – $1 an
hour!’’ Tony Jensen, Nelson: ‘‘The traffic. I live in Campbell St and at this
time of year with all the holidaymakers, I can’t get in and out of where I live. I’ve lived there 12 years and it’s
got worse. The traffic definitely increases during
holiday time.’’ Megan Johnston, Nelson: ‘‘This Christmas! Work was really
busy and then I did the cooking at home. I finish work this week though and then I’m having a holiday. We’re going
to Sydney.’’ Maria Bell, Nelson: ‘‘We’ve not had
a stressful time at all. My partner and I have four kids between us, and all but our nine-month-old baby have been away for a couple of weeks, so we’ve almost been
single.’’ Antony Pauletic, Kapiti Coast: ‘‘Driving to Nelson from Queenstown. We did it in 121⁄
hours, including stops. The road was closed so we came via Kaikoura and Blenheim. We
had snow in Twizel.’’
