Bridge too narrow

-

I approach the Motueka Bridge, and apple trucks are approaching, and I amin fear for them and me.

It is the apple season again, and it always appears to me that the Motueka Bridge is just not quite wide enough for me and that approaching truck.

When two apple trucks meet on the bridge, and I amlooking on the other side, waiting, I hold my breath and close my eyes and hope like hell they pass each other.

Motueka does require a two lane bridge, connecting Motueka to Riwaka, and the Tasman District Council do need to look at this problem very carefully indeed.

The approaches to the bridge have been redesigned over time, and now it is time for a safer Motueka bridge, a bridge that carries trucks and cars safely to their destination, and no waiting at the ends.

The Motueka Bridge is not a long bridge, but the problem with trucks and cars is huge, so thought should be given now, and not in ten years time, and a disaster waiting to happen.

A reality check is in need, as soon as possible.
