Art auction for school fundraiser
This year’s Tahunanui School Gala Art Auction is looking to be the best yet. Organiser Larisse Hall is thrilled by the quantity and calibre of works submitted.
‘‘It has definitely been the most exciting year for myself, receiving an extremely diverse range of artworks, with over 25 local artists contributing,’’ Hall says. ‘‘From realistic paintings through to totally abstract works, glass art, sculpture and ceramics.’’
Artists donating this year include Jane Evans (a print), Lloyd Harwood, Kathryn Furniss, Janet Perrior, Dave Carson, Margaret Johnston, Ann CT Braunsteiner, Cathy Jones, Nester Prints (Esther Remnant) Larisse Hall, Amanda Sears, Tracy Box, Bee Sparkles, Robert Thompson, Emma Panting, Giles Panting, Donna Allfrey, Maureen Gibson, Hoglund Art Glass, Kath Dwyer, Jason Rao, Mags Meechang, Fleur Woods, Cushla Vass, Gaelynne Pound, Margot Connew and Bob Roderique.
The auction is by silent and blind bidding and all works have a reserve in place. Heidi Lucas, from the Nelson Arts Council, and Ester Remnant have helped with the smooth running of the auction exhibition.
‘‘Essentially we are putting together a pop up exhibition of some of Nelson’s leading artists, in a very short space of time, converting what is normally the school library into a gallery space to ensure easy viewing,’’ Hall says.
There is also a Leisure Auction with various packages and pamper packs available for bidding.
All funds raised from the auctions will go towards the new junior playground, along with an added amenity for the seniors
