Jokers make light of NoChop with easy clean sweep

The Jokers had a massive win over NoChop 5-0 in the Thursday night table tennis competitio­n at Saxton Stadium.

Katie Roddis and Shane Browning were in top form, winning both their singles matches. They then combined to win the doubles to get the 5-0 result.

In the second clash in division one, Enterprize got the best of Swat Team 4-1. Katie Roddis and Russell Holden won all their singles but couldn’t beat Masayoshi Nishigami and Ashley Windsor to claim the doubles.

Beauty and the Beast scraped past Sweatbands in the final matchup in division one, 3-2. Browning won two singles and combined with team-mate Phil Higgins to get the crucial doubles win. Tony Colvin and Glenn Thorn won a singles match each for Sweatbands.

In division two, The No Hopers beat Rigels Boys 4-1. Tony Dyer played well winning two from two and was well backed up by Tom Lee who won two singles. Rebecca Nesbitt claimed the only win for Rigels Boys.

Lionels Legends topped The Triers in a close match 3-2. Pietro Cannata had a good night winning two singles matches and combined with team-mate Lionel Wells for a doubles win. Renze Van Duijn and Geoff Dowsett each won one singles match.

In the final clash from division two, Pom n Co beat Reflection­s 3-2. Steve Randall played well winning two from two and team-mate Masaki Takanaka chipped in with one win. Henry Bowden picked up a singles win for Reflection­s.

In division three, The Eddies got the best of The DT’s 4-1. Emily Randall was in good form winning two from two and team-mate David Watson picked up one win. Ted Priest stopped a clean sweep by beating Watson.

In the second division three clash, Wasp got the better of The Bounders 3-2. Jake Watson and Peter Cowan each won one singles and combined to win the doubles match. Duncan McKay played well winning two singles for the Bounders.

In the final clash from division three, M and S beat M and T 3-2. Stan Reid won a match for M and S While Matt Goodwin picked up a win for Mand T.
