Fund helicopter
Our emergency services comprise police, fire and ambulance; and hovering in the background (no pun intended) the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter. Government pays for the Police, and I believe that the Fire Service gets a hefty Government grant. This leaves ambulance and rescue helicopter services to rely on voluntary donations. Surely this is wrong. Both these services are so important, they should be Government funded. some candidates who missed out who will feel aggrieved by this. However, many ratepayers who have followed the past performances of both of these councillors will know that their real motivation has been more to do with achieving a dogged ‘‘green tinted’’ political agenda and with the new council being less inclined that way they both now want out. I think we all have learnt that most politicians have egos that simply must be satisfied. We should all wish councillors Lawrey and Fulton the very best and hope they are successful in becoming Green Party politicians. There will no doubt be good people to fill their places. ‘‘Palestine’’ west of the Jordan River. The 1922 Treaty of Sevres further confirmed this. UNSC Resolution 242 of 1967 accepted a Jewish presence in the ‘‘territories’’ (Judea and Samaria) Jordan invaded in 1949 and Israel liberated in 1967. Secure boundaries for Israel were to be determined by a peace settlement with Israel’s surrounding Arab states. The ‘‘Palestinians’’ weren’t a party as they weren’t an ‘‘occupied’’ people or state. The 1995 Oslo Accords recognised a Jewish presence beyond the 1949 cease fire line while placing 95 per cent of ‘‘Palestinians’’ under Palestinian Authority rule. The greatest wrong with Resolution 2334 is that at a stroke it contradicts all these previous treaties.
