Children left to starve in besieged camp

-

Children are dying of starvation in a desert camp for displaced people in Syria that is under the military control of the United States and its allies. Aid workers and people in the Rukban camp, between the sand ridges built to protect Syria’s border with Jordan, say that it holds 45,000 to 60,000 people. At first the displaced were fleeing the fighting in Raqqa to the north, but those who followed were trapped when Jordan shut off the border to stop Islamic State fighters infiltrating. The territory in which it is sited is controlled by the Free Syrian Army and tribal militias and US special forces.
