New Wakapuaka substation

In response to Gaire Thompson (Letters, January 9), Network Tasman is constructing a new indoor substation on company-owned land at Wakapuaka. This is to meet significant load growth in the Hira and Wakapuaka areas. As part of the development, a large amount of gravel has been brought in to compact the site in advance of construction. This material will be removed prior to construction. The development has been subject to extensive resource consent processes, and once completed, the finished floor level of the building will be 1.5 metres above the existing ground level.
