Drowning at waterfall
The Filipino student who drowned at a Northland waterfall on Friday has been named. The body of Kenny Espinosa, 26, was recovered by police divers on Saturday, at Whangārei Falls, pictured. Espinosa was a trained nurse in the process of obtaining his Kiwi qualifications. He lived on Auckland’s North Shore and planned to stay in New Zealand long-term. Friend Benjamin Baril said it still wasn’t clear how the ‘‘energetic, athletic’’ Espinosa’s time in the water turned fatal.
