■ The Nelson Suter Art Society is hosting Margaret Fairs’ exhibition Nelson – Plein Air, Et Al at the McKee Gallery, featuring oils, watercolou­rs and ceramics, until July 14.

■ The Refinery Art Space, Halifax St, Nelson is hosting Kahikatea, an exhibition of about 120 works by year 3 and 4 Nelson Central School pupils, inspired by famous artists. Prices range from $5 to $10, with all proceeds going towards the end-of-year school camp. Until August 3.

■ Disney’s The Lion King Jr will be performed by Nelson Youth Theatre at the Theatre Royal from July 17–20. Tickets from theatreroy­alnelson.co.nz or ticketdire­ct.co.nz. ■ Histrionic­s is performing The Red Plague, the true story of New Zealander Ettie Rout, once dubbed ‘‘the wickedest woman in Britain’’, at the Suter Theatre from July 18–20 at 7.30pm. ■ The Carnivorou­s Plant Society is bringing its Mexican fantasy music to Mapua and Onekaka in a multimedia production, presented by Arts on Tour New Zealand. Playhouse Theatre, July 12, 8pm, tickets $20 at the Playhouse; and the Mussel Inn on July 13, 8pm, tickets $15 at the door.

■ Solitude, a play based on the true story of Annie Chaffey, who hid in Kahurangi National Park with her lover for 40 years, is being performed by DramaLab’s Martine Baanvinger at Mapua’s Playhouse Theatre on August 16 at 8pm. Tickets $20; for bookings, call 03 540 2985.

■ Improv comedy group People’s Republic of Improv is performing Game Show of Thrones at the Refinery Art Space every Friday in July. ■ NZTrio presents Tectonic Shift at NMCA on July 12 at 7.30pm. The trio bring a programme rich with musical storytelli­ng about empires and superpower­s and the fundamenta­l forces that shape Aotearoa – our land, our population, our society. Tickets $20 to $40 from NCMA.

■ NCMA’s Celebratio­n Series presents the Emanon Duo – John Thomson and Monica Chang – and their recital The French Connection on July 14 at 3.30pm. The pair celebrate music for violin and piano by diverse composers. Tickets $30 from NCMA. ■ The Musical Invention Show by Levity Beet will have your children mesmerised and charmed. ■ Nelson Provincial Museum is hosting the Wildlife Photograph­er of the Year exhibition until August 4. The internatio­nally touring exhibition showcases extraordin­ary animal behaviour and the breathtaki­ng diversity of life on Earth in 100 exquisite photograph­s.

■ Motueka Public Library, 12 Pah St, is holding a Winter Book Sale until July 20. Pre-loved books for children and adults at bargain prices.

■ The Motueka Market is on every Sunday from 8am to 1pm at the Decks Reserve carpark, Wallace St. Food, produce, gift stalls, fashion stalls and much more.
