No satellite shootdowns

The Biden Administration is barring antisatellite missile testing by the US, to underscore its hopes of establishing new norms for military action in space. The US has criticised Russia and China for conducting anti-satellite missile tests. The issue has taken on greater urgency after Russia last November launched a missile to destroy a defunct Soviet-era satellite, creating more than 1500 pieces of space debris that have increased the risk to astronauts in Earth orbit, and could also affect commercial satellites that the world relies on for weather forecasts, GPS systems, TV broadcasts and critical infrastructure.
