New cases increase to 233

There are 233 newcases of Covid-19 in the top of the south, the Ministry of Health said yesterday. They are among the 6380 new cases nationally, announced by the ministry, which also reported 508 people in hospital with the virus, including 16 in intensive care units. The Nelson-Marlborough cases are up on the 177 reported on Monday. Eight people were also in hospital in Nelson-Marlborough with Covid-19, the ministry said, a slight decrease on Monday’s tally of nine. During the weekend the ministry announced the deaths of two more people with Covid-19 in the top of the south, bringing the total number to 11 since the Omicron outbreak began in late January.
