358 new cases in top of the south

New Covid-19 cases have risen slightly in the top of the south, but hospitalis­ations have reduced, the Ministry of Health said yesterday. The ministry reported 358 new Covid-19 cases in the Nelson-Marlboroug­h area yesterday – up from the 350 it announced on Wednesday. Nationally, there were 9047 newcases of the virus reported by the ministry, and 484 people in hospital, including 15 in intensive care units. Six people were in hospital in the top of the south, a decrease on the eight hospitalis­ations in the area on Wednesday. Yesterday, the ministry also reported the deaths of a further 13 people with Covid-19. None were in Nelson or Marlboroug­h. Nelson Marlboroug­h Health, which has different figures from the ministry because of different reporting times, recorded 361 new Covid-19 cases yesterday. These included 112 in Nelson, 87 in Blenheim, 58 in Richmond, 42 in Motueka/Moutere, 25 in other areas of Tasman District, 11 in other areas of Marlboroug­h, 11 in Golden Bay, and nine in Picton, with six unknown/from another region.
