up the win over England.

The Black Ferns – wearing white – were equally imperious in another six-try romp over the United States with Blyde scooting in for two early tries and Tyla Nathan-Wong dashing from the scrum base to catch the Americans napping on the short side.

Woodman and Blyde both scored four tries for the day across three games as the Black Ferns cruised into today’s playoffs .

Woodman started on the bench for the Pool C decider against the Fijians,

in the Olympic semifinal.

New Black Ferns head coach Cory Sweeney said during the television commentary that Woodman was ‘‘a special player, who’s been with this team a long time’’.

‘‘To see her back after four years in the World Series is a really special moment for her and her family and the Black Ferns sevens.’’

Woodman is now just two tries short of becoming the first woman to score 200 World Series tries after grabbing her brace after a clever tactical kick by Nathan-Wong and some slick handling.

Woodman said during a TV interview that it ‘‘felt like home’’ being back on the sevens circuit after so many of the squad had done double duty on the Black Ferns’ European tour late last year and in Super Rugby Aupiki.

She said the Ferns were ‘‘10 times more excited’’ to be playing in Canada after such a long break from the series.

The Black Ferns are bidding to win a fifth Canada Sevens title in Langley on Vancouver Island.
