Bake to help children in Kyiv
Ukrainian families in the Nelson region are holding a baking stall this weekend to fundraise for the largest children’s hospital in Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv.
Funds raised at the bake sale, being held at the Nelson Market this Saturday, will go to a Givealittle page set up by Motueka Ukrainian woman Nataliya Langridge in support of Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital. Staff at the hospital have been working around the clock to help the injured since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.
Supported by local Russian and Belarusian friends who will also be baking, the Ukrainian families will offer goods such as traditional pies, honey cakes, sultana cakes and apple pies at the stall, which will be open from 8am on Saturday. Donations of home baking from the public are also welcome and can be dropped off at the stall on the day.
Anyone who wants to donate baking, but is unable to drop it off on Saturday, should text message Jorge Ulloa on 022 353 8841.
