Person ‘critical but stable’
The person injured when their car crashed off a Nelson overbridge onto a highway remains in a critical condition. It took emergency services almost an hour to extricate the person from the car that crashed off the Nayland Rd overbridge and landed on its roof on Whakatu Drive early on Wednesday. Yesterday morning, Nelson Marlborough Health said the patient was ‘‘critical but stable’’. A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said at the time of the crash there was ‘‘one person heavily trapped’’ in the vehicle. A police spokesperson said the serious crash unit attended the scene and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were continuing. The highway was closed for several hours after the incident at 4.55am onWednesday.
