182 new Covid cases

As the Omicron outbreak continues, NelsonMarlborough recorded 182 newcases of Covid-19 yesterday. Ministry of Health data showed there were four people in hospital with Covid-19 in Te Tauihu (the top of the south) and there were 1760 active cases, with 27,109 people nowconsidered recovered. The numbers follow 252 newcases on Friday, with seven people in hospital. Nationally there were 5745 new cases yesterday, with 384 people in hospital – and eight in intensive care. The ministry also reported 15 deaths nationally – 13 over the past two days and two since May 7. Eight were men and seven were women. Three people were from the Auckland region, two were from Waikato, one was from Taranaki, two were from the Wellington region, four were from Canterbury and three were from Southern. Two people were in their 50s, one in their 70s, nine in their 80s and three were aged over 90. The latest cases took the seven-day rolling average to 7608 compared with 7510 last week.
