Arrest warrant will not stop dictator’s daughter
Isabel dos Santos, who was Africa’s richest woman until her assets were frozen as part of a billion-dollar corruption investigation, is considering running for president of Angola, where her father was the strongman for almost four decades. Dos Santos, 49, has remained defiant despite being the subject of a new international arrest warrant issued by Interpol. Angolan prosecutors accuse Isabel dos Santos of causing more than US$5 billion (NZ$8 billion) in losses to Angola during her father’s 38-year rule. Reports of her extravagance earned her the unaffectionate local nickname of ‘‘princess’’.
