Captiva gets new tech

-

The Holden Captiva has come in for a minor facelift for 2016, with a new front grille, new front fascia and LED daytime running lamps, along with a range of other updates, including the latest Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity technology, and a range of accessory options. Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are new safety features on the top LT-Z models, while across the range are Isofix child seat compatibility and Park Assist. Holden New Zealand’s managing director Kristian Aquilina said Captiva’s new design and class-leading infotainment system ensure the car remains an attractive option for busy families. “What we’re most excited about in this latest model is the new Mylink infotainment system with state-of-the-art Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Not only does it make it easier for drivers to stay connected when they’re in the car, it’s a major safety advancement, ensuring the driver’s focus is on the road ahead. “The projection technology means that all of those things we’re comfortable doing on our mobile device, can now be accessed through the vehicle’s seven inch touchscreen – whether it’s making calls, navigating using Apple/ Google maps, sending, reading or replying to messages, or playing music. Having those apps accessible via the in-built display, takes away any distraction for the driver. “Add to that some great exterior changes, such as a new front grille and fascia, and new body coloured cladding, which combined with the LTZ’S 19-inch wheels, gives Captiva a much more modern, clean look, and a strong road presence.” In addition to the refreshed exterior design cues, on the interior Captiva has a cleaner, more contemporary centre infotainment panel, and a rear view camera as standard. The 2016 Captiva simplifies Holden’s SUV offering, combining the outgoing Captiva 5 and Captiva 7 models into one sleek body design, available with both five and seven seat options and a variety of powertrains and trim levels that have already proved popular with customers. Pricing starts at $38,490.
