Launched at the Expo truck and equipment show, the new largest Daily has a seven tonne GVM and a 20 cubic metre capacity, meaning it may be a viable option to replace some small cab and chassis trucks with custom bodies. It also comes with a full Euro 6 spec engine with SCR (Ad Blue) technology delivering 180 HP, available with Himatic or manual transmissions. The remainder of the extensive Daily range gets a refresh with new grilles, one percent reduction in fuel consumption via improved engine tolerances and lower viscosity oil, improved audio systems and interior sound reductions. The previous safety package of EB, ESP and antslip continues while an optional lane departure system is now available and the 4x4 models now have a standard drivers airbag. The 3.5 and 5.0 tonne models continue with the existing Euro 5 engine which provides 205HP (the engine difference is due to EU homologation requirements which mandate Euro 6 for heavy duty vehicles, lighter duty will follow in a few years). In addition to the new models Iveco displayed a nice custom body on a five tonne chassis, built for textile rental company Alsco NZ by Action Manufacturing and a factory three-way tipper body they will have available from Scaattolini, which fits the single cab cab/chassis units. It has its own inbuilt hydraulic power pack so doesn’t need a pto. Iveco see great application for councils and landscapers. Last but not least was the new Daily 4x4, available in single and dual cab models, this has the same Euro 6 engine as the large van. It has a heavy duty chassis, three diff locks and three-stage reduction with low and extra low giving a massive 100:1 reduction in low-low. Available only with a manual gearbox this is an impressive vehicle for heavy duty off-road use.
