Maxxis Razr MT 4WD tyres – going places!

-

One company was born in the dirt and has played in it ever since, and their latest mud tyre is testament to their heritage. This new tyre is a bit different though. It also tames the tarmac like no other mud tyre before it.

That company is

Maxxis. They’ve long been a favourite for the

4x4 community and in the rural sector, thanks to their reputation for durability and hard-wearing performance. The suitability to New Zealand conditions is well-known: they work hard on-road and off-road and do so for a long time. What you may not know is that Maxxis’s off-road 4x4 patterns have evolved from a long heritage of off-road racing. It’s a great testing ground and Maxxis take their time to get it right. This tyre was over two years in the making.

The tyre we’re talking about is the Maxxis MT772 Razr MT. First released in NZ early last year, the size range has been steadily increasing since, and it’s now available to suit most common 4x4 ute fitments, from 15-inch through to 20-inch rims.

As you’d expect from the chunky and deeply sculpted tread pattern, the Razr MT is seriously grippy and feels right at home in the muddiest of situations. But more surprisingly, it’s also pretty handy on-road, having solved one of the biggest issues with any mud tyre on tarmac... noise. In the words of Maxxis USA Product Manager John Wu, “Most of our customers were blown away by how quiet the tyre is. It’s really not much louder than a traditional all terrain tyre”.

The Razr MT also delivers on Maxxis’s longstanding reputation for exceptionally tough tyres. The all-new tread block compound has been cleverly designed for maximum tear resistance. Any sharp objects will have a hard time penetrating the sidewall due to the new Debri-shield shoulder block design and it maintains a high level of flexibility, allowing it to bend over sharp objects without puncturing. This is due to the super-strong yet flexible Armour Ply inside the tyre casing.

So, there we have it. It’s no wonder the Razr MT is getting a lot of attention.

And with its newly expanded product range, it’s going to be getting to more places than ever before.
