New Zealand Company Vehicle

EDITOR’S DESK

-

Let’s see if I can get through this without using the dreaded C word.

First off, you’ll all, I’m sure, be happy to receive the printed version of NZ Company Vehicle.

We didn’t announce whether or not we would be doing one, because we like to accentuate the positive here at the magazine and just assumed we would be able to. And we were, such is the power of positive thinking…

No, we’re not being recklessly irresponsible either, we’re all working from home and it's still working well for us.

We were in self-isolation before most of you (nice when the boss has faith in the team) and believe it or not, working from home can be done without too much pain.

I’m wondering how many of you will opt to return to work when you can, or is this part of the new world to come? It’ll ease traffic congestion, that’s for sure.

Now onto the subject of traffic. Well, this is a sad time for the industry, with auto distributors here looking on with shock at the brutal treatment of Holden AUS/NZ at the hands of GM. It may have had to be done, but that was a pretty crap way to handle massive redundancies, GM.

I have spoken to a number of distributors who all agree that this wasn’t the way they wanted to see a competitor bow out of the market.

Vale Holden – you may soon be gone, but for damn sure you won’t be forgotten, and many of us out there will be thinking of and wishing the best, for the friends, contacts, liaisons and partnerships which have suffered as a result of GM’S shameful cost-cutting.

The industry has seen a lot of turmoil already this year and it has to be said, there is a great deal of uncertainty out there. The fact remains though, we have seen dark days before and it may change the way we do things, look at things, in every part of our lives.

Most of us are able to adapt and the great many find that at the other end, things are actually a lot better than they once were.

I believe things will get better faster than most think they will, because New Zealanders have a way of overcoming adversity with our number 8 wire mentality. We just have to remember how to use it properly to get the best result.

Of course, the beauty of number 8 wire fixing is that it doesn’t have to be inflexible. We can make it better later. For now, let’s just get on with it and get it moving again.

So with that said, herewith please find our latest edition with some good news, some successful stories and the promise of hope based on enthusiasm as we go forward.

Until next issue (and so far, it looks like we’ll have one!), stay safe, stay healthy, stay indoors and read your NZ Company Vehicle magazine.

Best to you and yours.
