Back in 2012 when Harry Virk started his business – Cleaning Pro – he had no idea that he would be the first customer in New Zealand to order a fleet of five automatic Renault Trafics some eight years later.

Harry’s background is actually in IT, but being the entrepreneurial type, he determined there was greater opportunity in residential house cleaning – quite a jump, but when Cleaning Pro first started offering merely carpet cleaning, Harry’s leap of faith proved to be the right one. Very quickly, the carpet cleaning services expanded to include couch cleaning, tiled floor cleaning and blind / window furnishing cleaning – pretty much everything to do with residential cleaning.

Expansion followed in terms of staff and that meant more vehicles. Harry wasn’t ready to acquire brand new vehicles, but the Cleaning Pro fleet grew from one van to eight vehicles by 2017, all practical, fit-for-purpose and reliable, just not brand new.

It was about this time that Harry’s brotherin-law arrived in New Zealand and that allowed Harry to implement an expansion of his business model. Between the two of them, they paralleled the Cleaning Pro model and started idry Restorations, a company which started as flood restoration specialists.

In keeping with the previous business model, the service offering from idry Restorations expanded from flood recovery to fire restoration, mould removal, meth clearing and asbestos removal. During the expansion process, Harry sent his technicians on training courses to ensure a high level of professional standards and practices.

Everything worked out brilliantly in the timing. Harry was already looking into upgrading the Cleaning Pro fleet and had done an extensive amount of research before deciding the Renault Trafic would be the right van for the job.

The order for five vans was placed before the vans had even landed in the country, and that gave Harry the chance to up his game a little. Cleaning Pro was working out well as a residential business operation, but idry Restorations was more corporately inclined and establishing itself with insurance companies. Therefore, the profile of the fleet had to be lifted.

Harry called in a group of designers to present the most professional graphics for idry Restorations and the blueprint was then sent to the Sign Studio in Mt Wellington, who saw the vans right after they rolled off the boat.

Liveried up in their corporate colours, the idry Restoration Renault’s required an internal fitout to carry the special airdrying equipment the company uses.

Harry worked out the refit template and each van had its new cargo partitioning installed, having a place for everything and everything in its place as well as intelligently preserving the investment in the vans.

idry Restorations has West Auckland as its permanent base of operations and to give some perspective on the size of Harry’s business, well, we should let Harry point out that even with five fully kitted out vans, idry Restorations still has to have space to store what is arguably the largest number of top-of-the-line anti-bacterial air driers in the industry.

“We can deal with up to 25 flood-damaged apartments quickly and simultaneously,” explains Harry, “which is exactly the response you want to hear when you have tenants forced out of their homes or businesses. As far as your property is concerned, solving a moisture damage situation quickly and efficiently is our number one priority.”

The Renaults – with their two-litre turbocharged diesel engines and long wheelbase chassis providing all the tools-ofthe-trade needed – get the qualified and trained idry Restoration professional teams where they are needed, when they are needed.

Harry is only a stone’s throw away from placing the next order for five Renault Trafic’s to be funded on a lease-to-own basis which will see idry Restorations become a truly national restoration service provider.

The Renaults are a great choice for us, with their carrying capacity, their SUV driving qualities, and their low roofline for accessing any underground carpark as well as their modular cargo areas, make them an excellent choice for idry Restorations,” says Harry.

“The fact that they have excellent safety credentials, are comfortable, well equipped and look impressive in their company colours is a bonus.”
