Born and bred on the East Coast of Australia at Coffs Harbour in New South Wales, Todd grew up with photography all around him. His father, famed surf photographer Bob Weeks, dedicated nearly a decade to capturing the country’s surf culture in the ’60s. For Todd, who’s now based in Arrowtown, New Zealand’s southern landscapes are his love and passion. From the region’s spectacular Southern Lakes to its snow-capped peaks, Todd approaches each setting with his unique photographic style. “I like to capture photos that are not ‘postcard’ shots but photos that make people think about the composition more than the location,” he explains. To capture this image of Lake Gunn, Todd left home at dawn to arrive in the early morning while there were still no tourists around. Following a track that went down to the edge of Lake Gunn facing to the south, he captured 12 vertical images handheld, which he stitched together in Lightroom to produce the spectacular shot.
