Dylan had spent the day at home sick, but, just as the light showed the first signs of fading, he suddenly felt the impetus to get out of the house and take some photographs. With only an hour until sunset, he made his way up the hill. As this was the first time he had been to this location, he didn’t have an image in mind, but the rock formation with the sun setting over the Lyttelton Harbour quickly caught his eye. To truly capture the light, Dylan put together a composite image in Photoshop, with different exposures for the rocks, the lights in town, the near hills and the far hills, and an extra-long exposure for that silky-smooth sky.
