SONY A6000, 12MM, 1/5S / 30S, F/8 / F/5.6, ISO 100 / 400 Having been told of the beauty of Castle Hill, when he finally got the chance to photograph it, Manuel discovered that the landscape was nothing like he had expected. His usual style is minimalist and clean, so he couldn’t reconcile the intricate formations of twisted rock to find a workable composition.
“I found myself wandering around in circles for hours, refusing to let the landscape get the better of me,” he said. The golden hour came and went, with the rolling granite granting no mercy. Walking back to the car defeated, Manuel stumbled on this basin, which provided about as clean a line as he was likely to find and led the eye neatly up to the snowy peak and the stars above.
