GETTING OVER BAD SHOTS

Golf is a technical, physical, tactical and very much a psychological game!

Kevin Smith provides some strategies to help you deal with those bad shots we all play at times.

And one other thing is that no

matter the golfers experience and or ability, it is very testing and very inconsistent!

All golfers experience a high one moment and then a low the next at some time.

And often the measure of the golfer is how they handle these lows.

So let's take a look at just some ways you can handle this perhaps a little better?

I believe the first key to not getting so worked up about your golf and the poor shots all golfers can hit is to be realistic!

Even Jack Nicklaus suggested that before playing he expected to hit a least 7 really poor shots during the course of the round. So when it happened it wasn't a big surprise to him as he was prepared for it.

Also many of the best players in the world have suggested that they might only hit 1 or 2 or possibly 3 to 4 really good shots during the course of a round, so learnt to make the "ugly" still work for them.

Golf is not easy and there are a huge number of variables associated with playing the game. Some are in our control whilst others are not! For example taking the wrong club, or aiming incorrectly are just two things we could have done better but how the ball bounces when it hits the fairway or a sudden gust of wind is definitely out of our control. So unless we had the opportunity to handle this better before the shot there is nothing we can do once we've played the shot.

So simply "get over it!" And move onto making the most out of your next shot.

So if you've hit a poor shot then once again you have a choice.

You could either blast yourself for making such a poor swing or decision and carry on making things even worse?

Or accept it's done now, so put your club away and move on?

Having a coping strategy can help a golfer move on. So here are just a few keys that you might want to consider using to help you not only get better results but to also enjoy your golf even more than you do now.
