03-04: THE SELF-TEST: LYING LEST

New Zealand Golf Magazine - - PGA OF NZ -

∙ Lie on your back with your knees bent but soles of the feet on the floor.

∙ Your lower back should be flat on the ground

∙ Raise both arms straight above your chest.

∙ Slowly move the arms above your head until you feel any discomfort in the shoulders and/or your lower back starts to rise of the ground.

∙ A good test should see you be able to touch the ground above your head with your hands without any discomfort and the back still flat on the ground. (Pic 3)

∙ A failed test would see the golfer be unable to get their arms past their ears due to restriction or the lower back coming off the ground. (Pic 4)
