HRT LOWERS DEATH RISK

Hormone replacemen­t therapy, used by women to relieve menopause symptoms, has long been controvers­ial and studies have associated it with health risks as well as benefits. Now, a new imaging study at California’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center suggests women who use HRT face a lower risk of early death and show lower levels of atheroscle­rosis – plaque build-up in the heart’s arteries – compared with women who don’t use it.
