If water has a value, it belongs to Maori, who owned it in the first place and never actually gave up that right ( Editorial, April 1). Iwi have a vested interest in seeing rivers run free and unpolluted to the sea and would probably put that interest over the potential revenue gathered from uncontroll­ed extraction.
