The article on early childhood education raised issues about the quality of early learning services. On June 14, an online survey (see bit.ly/2N3hWYk) was opened, giving interested people a chance to help shape the sector’s future. It is available until July 12. FIRST OF MANY
I hope the media will stop using the terms
“first family” and “first baby” when referring to our Prime Minister, her partner and their new daughter.
It’s a demeaning title and puts huge pressure on a young family who will be testing their abilities to manage their new roles and hoping to get it right, despite enormous pressure to be seen as role models for future generations.
I suggest the media revert to calling the Prime Minister, her partner and their daughter just that.
Otherwise, Winston Peters might insist on being called “first babysitter”.
