New Zealand Listener - - LETTERS -

I was thrilled to read of the time spent by Joanne Black in Buller ( Back to Black, July 28). I can’t imagine anything more soul-cleansing for a Washington DC-based Kiwi than to spend time at the family bach on the West Coast.

Buller is a hidden gem wrapped around by mountains, rivers, the sea and bush. House prices are a third to half those in Auckland, the locals actually talk to you and smile and, in spite of preconceptions, the climate is mild and it doesn’t rain all the time. Len Newman (Westport)
