A World Health Organisation study has found that more than a quarter of adults – about 1.4 billion people – did not do enough exercise to stay healthy during 2016. Based on self-reported activity levels, the study found a third of women and a quarter of men were not active enough. This puts them at greater risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia and some cancers.
