Early parental in­ter­ven­tion is of­ten seen as the key to help­ing chil­dren with be­hav­iour prob­lems, but a study in the jour­nal Child De­vel­op­ment has found that get­ting help with par­ent­ing can be just as ef­fec­tive in older chil­dren. Us­ing data from more than 150 tri­als, the study con­cluded that there was no ev­i­dence ear­lier in­ter­ven­tions are more pow­er­ful. It also found in­ter­ven­tion with older chil­dren was more cost-ef­fec­tive.
