Both here and abroad, a trend of agencies being bought up by consultanc­ies is leaving yet another space to be watched in the ever changing media environmen­t.

Here are just a few examples from the last two years alone:

Deloitte Digital acquired full-service San Francisco advertisin­g agency Heat last year and this year bought European-based creative agency Acne.

Pwc’s getting in on the action having acquired Swedish design agency Pond this year and Hong Kong creative agency Fluid last year.

Closer to home Accenture bought Australian creative agency The Monkeys and design business Maud this year. While overseas, it purchased London-based independen­t agency Karmarama last year.

And IBM’S showing the true magnitude of the trend as it acquired three online ad agencies in one week, including American digital agency Resource/ammirati and German agencies Aperto and ecx.io.
