OFFICEMAX’S MILLION-DOLLAR ‘FUTURE-OF-WORK’ SHOWROOM TECH INVESTMENT

The retail experience at Officemax NZ has been transformed thanks to the recent implementation of customer experience microapp from Seismic.

The new technology is part of the Officemax NZ’S $1.5 million experiential retail investment and allows the sales team to create personalised presentations for customers in five minutes and run them through it on a touchscreen in the showroom.

Realising that businesses were rethinking their physical spaces due to the pandemic, Officemax introduced the showroom experiences in 2020, with a set-up demonstrating the future of the workplace for business customers in technology, furniture, hygiene, cafes and other categories.

The Seismic Interactive Content was central to this showroom launch as it helped transform the customer experience and it is already seeing results with a 31 percent increase in seller confidence when it comes to finding accurate content. Evan Lawrey, Director, Marketing and Customer for Officemax, says the company is far more than just stationery but some customers aren’t aware of everything it has to offer.

“It can be intimidating for our sales teams to retain knowledge on everything we offer, and we previously didn’t have an easily navigable content repository to store all information. That was a key challenge for us.”

Heather Cook, Vice President Asia-pacific for Seismic, says supporting workers and students in offices, classrooms and at home can be a challenging and costly feat for New Zealand’s businesses and schools.

“Through its digital innovation, Officemax has not only transformed its showroom and e-commerce offerings, but empowered its workers to provide relevant, timely and tailored experiences to the customers that rely on the retailer’s products to keep them running.”
