Around 100 retail and marketing professionals braved an early morning start at Auckland’s War Memorial Museum to hear industry thought-leaders share insights on ‘the new face of retail and CX’. Organised by RX Group (formally known as Retailx), NZ Marketing magazine joined other sponsors for the first RX Breakfast Briefing event since Covid, and what a morning it turned out to be – jammed pack with exciting insights and innovation from both the local and international retail industry.

Setting the scene, Juanita Neville-te Rito, Managing Director and Founder of RX took the almost-packed auditorium on a journey of what the key drivers of this ‘new retail face,’ are, and what this means for businesses in New Zealand. Specifically, she spoke to what retailers need to consider strategically about how this will impact their businesses, and how the pandemic has birthed a whole new set of behaviours, attitudes and expectations. Her presentation included fascinating international examples from her recent trip to Europe, bringing to life international opportunities for local operators.

“In a world where frictionless retail, social commerce and personalisation has become the expectation, where sustainability, location based assortments and last-mile delivery are the new battlegrounds, and where we have more data than we can deal with, more demands on our staff in a market where labour is short on the ground and we have five quite diverse generations of shoppers to serve, retail has a new, new face,” she said.

The two-hour long session also included inspiring keynotes from Ambit on the evolution of conversational commerce in retail, Klarna on how you can connect your key talent with your customers to provider richer experiences and Joots on where the gold is sitting in your current data, right under your nose.

The morning produced an incredible event that certainly inspired and motivated those in attendance to raise the bar and understand what strategies will make their retail operations more competitive, compelling and relevant for the future shopper.

We look forward to being a part of the next event.
