Marketing Association launches elite marketing programme

To help support the next generation of Chief Marketing Officers, New Zealand Marketing Association has introduced an exclusive, intensive programme offering participants the chance to learn from the elite of New Zealand’s marketing community.

The new Professional Certification in Advanced Marketing Leadership (AML) includes specialist sessions and panels delivered by the top marketers from companies including Westpac, Spark, The Warehouse Group, My Food Bag, to name but a few, plus some of New Zealand’s best CEOS and CFOS.

The programme is aimed at eight plus years marketers, agency people and those who will be the next generation of marketing leaders. It is designed to develop the skills of marketers and prepare them to take on top leadership roles. There are three workshops supplemented with international experts online and mentorship by CMOS.

“The industry has been giving us feedback that while we have excellent training for entry to mid-range marketers and we look after the top marketing leaders (CMOS), there has been limited offering for the next generation of CMOS. While many companies offer general leadership programmes, they do not offer anything which is marketing specific. To this end, the MA created an advisory panel of New Zealand’s best marketers who have helped design The Professional Certification in Advanced Marketing Leadership,” says John Miles, CEO of NZ Marketing Association and architect of the programme.

Participants will attend three two-day workshops in April, May and June 2023, and to gain entry to the programme they must be nominated by their company.

“AML highlights the contemporary issues facing New Zealand’s marketers and is a critical next step for aspiring heads of marketing,” says Hone Paul, Director of Marketing, Kaiurungi Ratonga Whakatairanga at the University of Otago.

WHAT MARKETERS HAVE TO SAY

“The [AML is] a well-researched and carefully crafted programme, with learnings that will benefit participants, their employers and their industries at large,” says Fiona Woolley, Head of Marketing & Communications at KPMG.

The good news for MA members is that the six days of workshops will cost $2,950, while for non-members, it is $5,950.

“This programme is an investment in raising the talent in New Zealand, plus we have had fabulous support in four partners, Westpac, KFC, dentsu and Salt, who have enabled us to keep the price for members so low,” says John.

“We are looking to keep the cohort to a maximum of 25 people, so not all applicants may be accepted into the programme. The response we had at our launch was fantastic, with people getting themselves nominated by their manager/ceo the next morning!”

Carolyn Schofield, Head of Brand at

Trustpower says: “I’m envious of the marketers who will have the opportunity to take part in this programme. The MA is doing a fantastic job creating development opportunities for marketers of all levels. This course will provide an amazing opportunity for talented marketers to take their skills to the next level.”
