Cyclone madness

New Zealand Surfing - - 2011 ELEVEN -

By the time the first month of the year passed we had already seen some of our best waves ever produced by a cyclone when the East Coast of both islands was sent pumping swells for days on

end. We made a song and dance about it such was the magnitude of the event, yet by the time the season ended and the cold water moved in, our shores had been graced by six different Cyclones or tropical lows. With Wilma, Atu and Bune delivering sessions at many breaks that will be talked of for lifetimes.

CYCLONE SWELLS BREATHED LIFE INTO MANY COASTAL CRANNIES THAT USUALLY NEVER SEE WAVES. JOS KENNINGS ON THE SPOT AND IN THE HOLE.
