A LOVE LETTER
What makes a wedding memorable? I’m asked that often. I have always felt that the most extraordinary celebrations are those where the essence of the couple shines through the day’s details. It’s not because they spent a fortune making it happen, but because they put love and attention – and, of course, time – into weaving together an event that looks and feels true to them.
I was so inspired by the real weddings newlyweds have shared with me recently that they sparked this issue’s theme: style. The common thread is a relaxed spirit, and there’s nothing quite like Kiwi ingenuity. From menus to music, couples are creating ceremonies and receptions that become a beautiful bouquet of both professional and homemade touches.
You don’t have to sacrifice style when putting together a party on a budget. On page 132, we’ll show you the easiest ways to save and where it may be worth it to splurge. And when deciding on a location, consider ‘Hitting the Spot’ – Rachel Ramsay’s article on matrimonial hotspots that are made for love. Also this issue, we unveil gowns that reflect the new era of bridalwear ( both romantic and relaxed) and round up our picks of the latest fashion (starting on page 55 – get ready to swoon!) that deserve space in your honeymoon wardrobe. My experience of Fijian hospitality while creating the stories for our fashion section has made me excited about the chance to give one couple a celebration in Fiji. Enter on page 170. If marrying closer to home sounds more like you, our $ 60,000 dream wedding is up for grabs on page 38 – it includes everything from photos to flowers. I hope this issue propels you forward on the planning path, in true ‘bridechilla’ style. Enjoy each moment, creating magical memories that will last a lifetime.
