SPARKLING EYES
According to Bobbi Brown makeup artist Sarah Lee Russell, the first step to enhancing your peepers is choosing a soft palette – think neutral shades such as brown and taupe. ‘Start by sweeping a light, matte shadow from the lash to brow line,’ says Sarah Lee. ‘Layer over top – along the crease – with a medium-toned shadow to gently define eyes before adding highlighting shadow to the lids.’
‘When going natural, I always opt for a soft smokey eye,’ says Elizabeth Arden’s Lidean Erasmus. ‘Instead of using an eyeliner, you can apply a dark (but not black) eyeshadow with a damp brush along both lash lines, and blend.’ If you’re using a pencil, apply feathery strokes of eye pencil, softened with a gentle smudge.
Brows can make or break a face, says Sarah Lee. ‘Using an angled brow brush and a shade no darker than your hair colour, brush along your brow’s lower edge towards the arch then down to the tail. Then, using your brush once again, blend the colour up.’ Always finish a brow and tame wild hairs by combing upwards with a brow gel.
Applying quality mascara is the best way to set your eyes naturally asparkle, says Sarah Lee. ‘Start close to the root, wiggle your wand so there is more deposited there and sweep up the length of the lash.’
