HAPPY GLAMPERS
Holly Panckhurst and Jesse Skralskis wed at Aroha Island, Kerikeri, on Saturday, November 29, 2014
Our wedding style
Many of our guests flew in from overseas, so we aimed to show them a classic Kiwi time. We also wanted to celebrate with them for more than a few hours! With its range of accommodation options and lush gardens, Aroha Island offered the ultimate setting for our rustic eco-glamping do.
Setting the scene
While many guests glamped on the island for the whole weekend, we wanted the day itself to feel like one big picnic. We dotted rugs and cushions around the lawn and a vintage marquee marked the spot for our relaxed reception. Each guest received a picnic box for their entrée, filled with nibbles including herb and cream cheese-filled pancakes.
Something special
Our ceremony incorporated an ancient Vedic wedding tradition that involved us placing our feet on a stone as we exchanged vows. The stone represents steadiness and endurance.
Advice for brides to be Whatever happens on the day, aim to just relax and enjoy yourself. It goes by in a flash, so be sure to take it all in.
