The Groom A

-

fter seeing Crane Brothers’ suits on the New Zealand Weddings Collection catwalk at Fashion Week, I knew I was in for a treat. What better time than your wedding to have a bespoke suit made? The fact that I could wear something of such excellence – and then keep it for occasions beyond “I do” – was an exciting prospect. With this in mind, I attended my first Crane Brothers fitting – the start of a fascinating and detailed process. I had my mind set on a slimline suit, so Matt from the High Street store took my measurements before assisting me in choosing a number of ready made versions to try. This helped me make decisions on style and colour. I eventually opted for a navy suit made from Italian wool. At the second appointment, it was all about ensuring the fit was correct: Matt tapered the trousers, took in the waist of the jacket and finalised its length. We also chose the lining for the waistcoat and jacket. My new suit was finished completely for the third and final fitting.
