hen envisioning our wedding, I couldn’t get past the vision of a romantic, floral, garden celebration. We also wanted the day to be relaxing, so knew we would ideally say our vows and hold our reception in the same place to save any rushing around. Located in Kumeu, and characterised by its rustic interior and lush gardens, Markovina Vineyard Estate made the ultimate setting. Beautiful blooms We chose to hold our wedding in late spring, when roses, peonies and other garden beauties start blossoming. A majestic chestnut tree in the vineyard’s garden marked the spot for “I do”. We exchanged vows under a beautiful stained wooden frame covered with cascading flowers and pretty foliage, before moving to the indoor courtyard for our reception. Romantic ambience The vineyard’s rustic interior glowed with twinkling LED light glass holders hanging above the bridal table. On each long guest table, we had a long, low wooden box filled with peonies, garden roses, sweetpeas, ranunculus, poppies, lilac and pretty, delicate foliage. Clusters of gold mercury glass votives and candles created a romantic ambience complemented by vines that trailed from the ceiling. Dream dress I had always pictured myself in a soft, romantic wedding gown La Sposa’s creations ticked all the boxes. I fell in love with my dress instantly. With its intricate Italian lace beading bodice, long train and illusion lace back, the ethereal look was a perfect match for the relaxed garden vibe of our wedding.
