The rugged West Coast of Auckland played host to this couple’s autumn nuptials.

The rugged beauty of Auckland’s West Coast set the scene for SAMANTHA DICK and ALLAN YEH’S spellbinding autumn nuptials.

“If you don’t have a videographer, at least ask a guest to record the speeches on their phone. I wish we could re-watch ours!”

Atelier. Ideal for the simple, classic look I wanted, it was fitted and sleeveless, splaying out into a full skirt of silk gazar. Some sparkling silver Stuart Weitzman shoes and a pair of Kate Spade earrings finished the look. I liked the idea of having my bridesmaids in white, so I told my sister and high school friend Elaine to pick whichever style of dress they liked – funnily enough, they chose the same one.

Our 80 guests dined on a buffet-style menu, with the cake my mum and sister baked being the highlight. They created a three-tiered gin and lemon and banana naked cake with thick frosting – our guests raved about it.

Walking down the aisle and seeing Allan at the end, I had to do everything I could not to cry – it hadn’t felt real until then. During our ceremony, our celebrant Rochelle Fleming had the brilliant idea of having guests write short notes to Allan and me that we have stored in a wine case to open on our first anniversary. It was all so perfect – we couldn’t wait to read those messages and re-live the day.
