Danielle Esterman of Oh! Such Style married beautiful detailing and mesmerising displays for this styled shoot on location at The Victoria Battery Tramway and Museum Society in Waikato.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU FOR THIS THEME? We knew we wanted to focus on a ‘fine art’ style and have our bride be the focus, keeping the colour palette simple and stay with greens, whites and bronze. Once we found the perfect location, it really guided the rest of the design.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THIS THEME? Oh my gosh, everything! This is my favourite look as even though it has a slightly Celtic look, I think it still stands out as timeless.
IN WHAT ORDER DID YOU VISUALISE THIS BEAUTIFUL LOOK? The most important element was the style, followed by the location, model, gown and hair and makeup.
OLD GLAMOUR
Alice Sip at Kristopher & Co dreamed up the sophisticated style direction for this romantic setting at Ataahua Lodge Villa near Tauranga.
TELL US WHAT YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT THIS THEME I love the echoes of old Hollywood Glamour. The classic Rolls Royce, glamour curls, tuxedo – the art deco design on the Jane Yeh gown. We ended up with a feeling of an old-school luxe intimate wedding, and I loved that.
WHERE DID YOU START WHEN PIECING THIS LOOK TOGETHER? Although the venue changed my inspiration somewhat, I begin every design with the dress. Every. Single. Time. From there I build the floral design, choosing colours that suit my design theme. However, for this particular shoot, the best decision, in my opinion, was the Rolls Royce.
WHAT’S YOUR TOP PLANNING TIP FOR KIWI COUPLES? Give it all and take one thing back. This is my mantra with all planning and design. You always hear people say ‘less is more’, but with the grandeur of some weddings we can get carried away – we forget, the grand elements are only grand because of the simplicity complementing them.
